The short answer

Two editions, both launching November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The extra 20 dollars buys cosmetic and in-game content, not more game. No missing missions, no cut map, no early access.

Note the name. It is the Ultimate Edition, not Premium or Deluxe. Rockstar named it in the June 24 announcement.

What Rockstar has actually confirmed

Standard Edition, 79.99. Rockstar describes it as a single-player experience set in the biggest evolution of the series yet. That is the whole game.

Ultimate Edition, 99.99. Rockstar’s wording is an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story.

Rockstar’s support article, updated August 18, 2026, now lists the Ultimate Edition contents in full: the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, Hawk and Little Morgan Revolvers, personalized weapon variants, Vice City Styles, Jason’s safehouse vehicles, the Ganado Retro Build, the Rideout Customs Mod Shop, Sara’s Unisex Salon, the Shitzu Squalo, the Stock 305 Clothing Store, the ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and Garage, the Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor, One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop, Goodtime Gear, the PTT Youngin$ Compound, and the Classic Car Collection.

Rockstar adds that these items are threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter. So this is not a bundle that lands in your garage at hour one. It unlocks as you play, and Rockstar has not said at what pace.

The pre-order bonus, and who actually gets it

This is the part most pages get wrong. There are two separate things, and they have different rules.

1. The Vintage Vice City Pack. Goes to every pre-order and every purchase made before November 20, 2026. Not an Ultimate exclusive. Not a pre-order exclusive either, since buying on launch day still qualifies. Rockstar describes it as items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest.

2. A free month of GTA+. Goes to digital pre-orders only. Buy the disc-free box at retail and you do not get this one.

What the GTA+ month is actually for. Read Rockstar’s wording carefully: it is instantly redeemable and gets you into GTA Online and the GTA+ Games Library, which includes Grand Theft Auto V and other classic Rockstar titles. That is the existing GTA Online, playable now. It is not a subscription to anything inside GTA 6.

Is there online play in GTA 6?

Not announced. Rockstar’s own pre-order announcement describes Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience, and no online mode has been announced as part of either edition.

If online arrives later, neither edition is currently advertised as buying you access to it. Do not pay the extra 20 dollars expecting online.

Which one should you buy?

For most players, Standard. Every mission and the whole map ship in both. The Ultimate Edition adds sixteen items of vehicles, weapons, clothing and properties, now listed in full above. None of them change the story or the map, and they unlock as you play rather than at the start. Whether that is worth 20 dollars is a preference, not a value calculation.

Buy Ultimate if you know from past Rockstar releases that you enjoy the cosmetic bundles and 20 dollars is not a meaningful decision for you.

Worth knowing, and it may surprise you: on Take-Two’s August 7 earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the 99.99 Ultimate Edition is outpacing the 79.99 Standard in pre-orders. He added a caution worth repeating, which is that the most committed buyers are the ones pre-ordering this early, so the split may not hold once ordinary buyers arrive. It is not evidence that Ultimate is the better buy. It is evidence about who has bought so far.

What is still unconfirmed

Two rumors worth killing

“The standard edition is 100 dollars.” It is 79.99. That rumor circulated widely before pre-orders opened and the official announcement settled it.

“The physical edition gets you a disc.” It does not. Rockstar confirmed the boxed version contains a download code inside the box, available from November 12 to support preloading. There is no disc.

Where to buy

Rockstar lists the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and global retailers and storefronts.

If you want the preload head start on November 12, a digital pre-order is the simplest route, and it is the only one that includes the free GTA+ month.

Updated August 30, 2026. This page will be updated if Rockstar publishes the price of the Ultimate Edition Upgrade or the pace at which Ultimate items unlock.
